Sixteen Bermudian students, whose education levels ranged from high school to seniors in college, participated in KeyTech’s “Future Keys” Summer Employment Program.

This year’s program was revamped to further enhance the student’s work experience over a period of eight weeks. The summer employment program was renamed “Future Keys” to fulfill the intention behind what the company hopes it offers students (or Keys) to be a viable career choice for them when they complete their studies.

Our Keys will return to school more knowledgeable about the telecommunications industry and life in the work environment. In addition to the varied technical and hands-on work experience, they were also exposed to a series of ‘Lunch & Learn’ sessions which ranged from life-skill topics to meeting the CEOs. Each student participated in the “Networking for Your Future” exercise, which exposed them to managers who work within their chosen career fields and a collective project called “Count on the Industry Leader” that required the students to work collectively and develop their team building skills. The final project was presented to senior executives and judged on its originality and viability.

“This year we wanted to build on the success of the program last year, create ways for our students to learn more about their individual careers choices and ignite new knowledge and skill sets to further develop their interest in the KeyTech Group of Companies” KeyTech’s Learning & Development Coordinator, Terlena Murphy said.
